A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to speak with Shinsuke Asakura, a game developer and director at Kyoto Animation, about his game series The Legend of Korra.
The game is set in the same universe as the popular Avatar: The Last Airbender TV series and has been running since the mid-2000s.
It follows the journey of Korra and her friends from their first meeting in the Avatar State to their final confrontation with the invading Air Nomads.
It was the first time I’d ever had the chance to chat with the man behind such a big hit.
We started off talking about Korra.
How long have you been making video games?
I started as a student in 2009.
I was a big fan of Avatar and wanted to make an anime game, so I started working on Avatar: the Last Airbenders.
The Avatar games had been on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii, but The Legend Of Korra had been out for a while.
It was really fun to see how people react to this game.
It took a little while to get to the point where we actually started working with a full-fledged art team.
That’s why it took us a little bit of time to get the game into a state where we could start talking to the team, so that we could actually get to know the people behind the game and hear their ideas.
But when we started, we didn’t have a lot of staff.
It took us about two months to get all of the people that we needed in the studio.
What were you trying to achieve?
What were the core ideas?
That was the biggest thing.
We were trying to push ourselves to create something that we felt was unique and different from the others that were out there.
Were you making something for fans?
We weren’t making something to cater to fans or the industry.
We wanted to create an original experience that people would want to see in their homes.
Are there any elements that fans will get a kick out of?
It’s fun for us to watch people get excited.
We can see them and they get excited and they play the game.
I’m a big Korra fan, so the game is about Korra and what it means to her.
The story has a lot to do with the world and what people in the world are going through, and it’s really fun.
There’s a lot that’s very personal and personal about Korra, so it’s definitely a fun experience for fans.
What can we expect to see from The LegendofKorra?
I really like the world that we’re creating.
I love the fact that we are creating a world that people can really relate to.
It has a big emphasis on the friendship aspect of it, which is a big theme for me.
It feels like we’re really giving a lot away about the characters that we have created, and they really bring a lot into the game, as well.
Will there be any surprises?
We’re planning to reveal some new elements in the game over the course of the course.
But for now, we’re going to be able to tease a little something each time that people will really get excited about.
What do you think will make this one of the best games of 2018?
We want to be excited.
It takes a long time to develop something and when it’s done, we feel like we’ve done something really special.
We’re going back and forth between finishing the game in September and October.
So we’ll be able have a full review and an announcement at some point.
And I think we’re very excited about the fact the fans are going to really get into this game, and I think that they will be really excited about it.
I don’t know how long we’ll wait to release it.
We’ll have to wait for a month, but we’re hoping to have it out by the end of this year.
What are your thoughts on the new games coming out this year?
I’m really excited to see what’s out there for people to play.
We hope that people are going in with their own expectations and enjoying it.
I love games that have a real story and a real character.
I think I’m the type of person who likes to see the game with my own eyes, because I feel like it’s something I’m able to enjoy myself.
I hope that everyone can enjoy it.
